Little Knowledge About Natural Crystals
Natural crystals are transparent and often contain cloud-like, star-like, or cotton-like inclusions (liquid/gas inclusions), along with tiny cracks (fractures). They also exhibit polarization and may show twinning phenomena. For example, when you look down through a natural crystal ball, the lines below may appear doubled.
On the other hand, synthetic crystals and glass products have a uniform internal structure with no impurities or cracks. Instead, they often contain tiny air bubbles. When looking through a glass ball, lines do not appear doubled. Additionally, natural crystals feel cool to the touch, while glass tends to feel warmer.

"Fissures" are fine, mesh-like cracks often found inside natural quartz crystals, and resemble the cracks or spider web patterns on the surface of ice. ■ Origin The internal structure of the crystal is fractured by crustal movements (pressure or sudden temperature changes). ■ Physical characteristics Radial, layered, or irregular distribution When held up to the light, they can show rainbow-colored reflections (the "rainbow effect").
Cloud-like inclusions
"Cloud inclusions" are faint, cotton-like impurities commonly found inside natural quartz, creating a cloud-like or misty visual effect. The technical term for them is "cloud inclusions." ■ Natural formation process When quartz crystals slowly crystallize in the earth's crust, they trap tiny gas-liquid mixtures (H₂O+CO₂) and mineral particles (chlorite, hematite, etc.). ■ Effects of geological pressure changes External pressure fluctuations cause tiny cracks inside the crystal, which then heal to form the haze-like marks.
Surface chips and dents
The pits on the crystal surface are a natural occurrence during the growth process and are not man-made damage.

Colour: A deep, uniform natural colour (e.g. a deep amethyst) is over 50% more expensive than a paler colour.
Inclusions: Certain inclusions (e.g. the “aligned needles” in needle quartz) add value, while more impurities reduce the value.
Cutting technique: A precision cut (e.g. eight hearts eight arrows) can cost 30% to 200% more than a simple ball shape.
Ball size differences: For the same type of crystal, the larger the size, the higher the price.
