Rose Quartz

Main Origins

Brazil, Madagascar, Kazakhstan, South Africa, USA, China (Guangdong, Xinjiang Uygur, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia)

Material Properties

Mineralogically classified as a variety of quartz, rose quartz has a chemical composition of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) and is a single-crystalline quartzite. Known as “芙蓉石” (Furong Stone) or “薔薇石英” (Rose Quartz) in Chinese, its English name “Rose Quartz” derives from its soft pink hue resembling rose petals.

While pure silicon dioxide crystals are colorless and transparent, trace impurities like titanium impart its signature pink color. It exhibits transparency to translucency with a vitreous or greasy luster.

History & Culture

Ancient Greece
In Greek mythology, rose quartz was considered an embodiment of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Legend claims the stone formed when her blood stained the crystals, earning its Western reputation as the “Love Stone”—believed to attract affection and harmonize relationships.

Egypt
Thought to possess anti-aging properties, it was ground into powder for facial masks to reduce wrinkles and preserve youthful beauty.

India & Islamic Regions
Associated with maternal deities, it symbolized motherly love and compassion—representing gentleness, kindness, and inclusivity.

China
Regarded as an emblem of love, deeply tied to romantic destiny. Popular among youth as a talisman for blessed marriages and harmonious partnerships.

Ideal Times for Use

Healing Emotional Trauma
When experiencing deep emotional wounds—heartbreak, family loss, or betrayal by friends—people often become trapped in grief, anger, or resentment. During such times, the Heart Chakra’s energy becomes disrupted and congested.

Improving Relationships
In workplaces, schools, or social settings, misunderstandings and differing opinions can create tension or distance. Examples include:

  • Clashing with a colleague over project responsibilities, leading to communication breakdowns that hinder teamwork
  • An offhand remark straining a once-close friendship, leaving both parties feeling awkward yet unable to apologize

Building Loving Connections
For couples, daily routines may dim romance, making the relationship feel mechanical with dwindling affection and conversation. For singles desiring love, rose quartz helps overcome hesitation in approaching potential partners.
